Inclusion Statement

1. Purpose

Astria Learning Studio is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children attending its Saturday group tuition sessions. This statement outlines the key principles and practices in place to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

2. Our principles

  • The welfare and safety of the child is always the priority

  • All children have the right to learn in a safe and supportive environment, regardless of background, ability, gender, ethnicity, or need

  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility

  • Any concerns regarding a child’s wellbeing will be taken seriously and acted upon appropriately

3. Scope of provision

This statement applies to:

  • The business owner

  • Any tutors or staff working with Astria Learning Studio

  • All children attending sessions

4. Session location and responsibility

Astria Learning Studio delivers sessions from West Grove Primary School. Although sessions take place on school premises, Astria Learning Studio operates independently and retains full responsibility for safeguarding during all sessions.

5. Safeguarding approach

Safeguarding includes protection from harm such as:

  • Physical harm

  • Emotional harm

  • Sexual harm

  • Neglect

  • Peer-on-peer harm

  • Online risks where applicable

6. Safeguarding responsibility

A Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is responsible for overseeing safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate action is taken, and liaising with external agencies if required. All concerns are handled in line with appropriate safeguarding guidance.

7. Inclusion and SEND support

Astria Learning Studio is committed to an inclusive learning environment. We welcome children with a range of abilities and needs. Parents are encouraged to share relevant information at the time of booking so that appropriate support and reasonable adjustments can be considered where possible. Sessions are structured and may be adapted to support individual learning needs.

8. Safe practice and supervision

  • Children are supervised at all times during sessions

  • Clear and safe drop-off and collection procedures are followed

  • Appropriate professional boundaries are maintained at all times

  • A safe and respectful learning environment is expected

9. Record keeping and concerns

Any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns are recorded factually and stored securely. Information is only shared where necessary to protect the child or meet safeguarding obligations.

10. Review

This statement is reviewed annually or sooner if required to reflect changes in safeguarding guidance or practice.
